The Client Advisor feature is a supplement to the Client Presentation and contains:
The amount of pages for the Client Advisor depends on the amount of data in the client's return; there are over 70 potential recommendations the program may use.
You must have Microsoft Excel 2003 or later installed on your computer to use these tools.
To access the Client Presentation and Client Advisor for a client, open their 1040 federal tax return:
You can edit the text/layout of the Excel spreadsheet which contains both the Client Presentation and the Client Advisor features.
If you click on "Save As" while in Excel, an 'island file' is created (e.g. on desktop, in temp files, etc.) and the file can no longer be accessed via or updated by ProSeries. We do not recommend using Save As, doing so breaks the link between a client's presentation file and the ProSeries program.
If you make edits to Client Presentation and Client Advisor and want/need the original version, select the option "Restore the Default Presentation and Advisor" from the Tools menu under Client Presentation.
We have designed these tools in such a way that editing should not be needed. However, if you do edit these features, please be advised that changes will apply to all returns that use the Client Presentation and Client Advisor.
Network Users: Only one network user can edit the presentation at a time.
When you receive updates for ProSeries the Client Presentation and Client Advisor features are automatically reverted back to their original format and all changes will be lost.
You may choose to print from Excel or from within the ProSeries program. You can also specify whether you want the presentation and advisor to print with returns automatically in the "Print with Return" options.
To print only a presentation and advisor for a current client:
You can specify a specific printer to use for these tools in the Print Center, under Global Print Options. Select Printer, DMS, and PDF Setup, and then click on radio button for "Client Presentation".

Also note that the Client Presentation and Client Advisor cannot be printed to PDF or sent to the DMS program in tax year 2007.
The Client Presentation and Client Advisor features are only available for 1040 Complete, Powertax and PowerTax-Lite customers, free for tax year 2007. These features are not available for states or business products.
