Qualified mortgage insurance is now separately stated from other types of insurance. The Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006 treats qualified mortgage insurance as qualified residence interest which is deductible on Schedule A.
We have added a Qualified Mortgage Insurance Premiums Smart Worksheet on Schedule A to help you enter this data.
Form 8829 (Line 17, column (b) Smart Worksheet and the Schedule E Worksheet (Line 9a) have also been modified to accommodate for qualified mortgage insurance premiums.
