Live Community is a ProSeries user forum accessible from within the program. Through the Live Community you can get many of your questions answered by a peer, and you can search for questions and answers previously asked by ProSeries users. This can be especially helpful in cases where a question might not be able to be answered by a support agent due to legal liability issues (i.e., tax advice or interpretation).
The Live Community feature requires a computer with ProSeries software and an Internet connection. If you attempt to access this feature on a computer without an internet connection (or if the connection has been broken), you will receive an "Unable to connect to Live Community at this time" error statement.
Live Community can be accessed throughout ProSeries using a panel on the Right side of the program. This panel automatically opens when you enter the program, and can be closed and re-opened when needed. To close the Live Community panel, click the Close button at the bottom of the panel; to re-open, click the Live Community tab on the right side of the ProSeries window.
To browse information in the Live Community, click the Browse Online Community option.
Click on any posted question to see information and view answers that have been provided.
In order to ask questions, receive answers or respond to questions via the Live Community feature you must first sign into an Intuit Online Account. Your account is established quickly and easily the first time you ask or respond to a question.
To establish your account, enter your email address in the Live Community dialog box and then click the Create an Account link.
It's a good practice to sign in to your account as soon as you open the program each day. This will enable you to post questions and answers, and receive answers to your questions, without interruption.
To post a question to the Live Community type your question in the box and click on "Ask My Question".
If the ProSeries Live Community search identifies similar questions that have answers, review the information then click "I found my answer" or "Ask My Question".
If the search did not identify similar questions that have answers or you clicked "Ask My Question", provide a title for your question in the "What is Your Question?" dialog box, then click "Send My Question".
When a reply to your question is received, a "New Reply Alert" is displayed in the top area of the Live Community Panel. You must be signed into your Intuit Online Account to see the alert. Answers can also be received through e-mail if the option to "Email me when my questions receive new replies" was selected during account set up.
To see all of your questions and any posted answers, click on your Screen Name near the upper right corner of the ProSeries Live Community Panel, and then select "My Q&A" from the menu.
Leaderboard
A rating system for contributors can be displayed by clicking the Leaderboard link at the top of the Live Community panel.
The Leaderboard allows you to ascertain which contributors have historically provided the most helpful advice, those who have and answered the most questions.
To search for additional information from within the Live Community, click the buttons at the bottom of the ProSeries Live Community panel to go to the indicated web sites. These direct links enable you to: go to the Tax Almanac main page and the Support page of the ProSeries website; to view a video on How to get Faster Better Answers; and to search the Knowledge base.
