If you plan to prepare more than 32 individual 1040 and State returns this upcoming season, ProSeries 1040 Complete will be your most cost-efficient package.
Will ProSeries run on the Microsoft Vista operating system?
Yes, as of tax year 2007, all ProSeries tax products and add-on solutions will run on Vista. However, 2006 or earlier ProSeries versions are not. In the event you need to use a 2006 or earlier program, we recommend keeping your old PC or running ProSeries in admin mode in Vista.
Is technical support included?
Yes, ProSeries provides you with free U.S.-based technical support via a wide-range of convenient options: toll-free phone with extended hours during peak season, email, in-product help, chat and more.
I have multiple employees that need to prepare returns with ProSeries. Do I need to purchase multiple licenses or a network version?
One license of ProSeries tax software covers everyone in one company and location. If all of the ProSeries users in your office need the ability to conveniently share and synchronize files, then a network version from one common location is recommended.
What is the PPR license fee? Do I have to pay this if I have an unlimited bundle and need to file a few returns on a pay-per-return basis as well?
The pay-per-return (PPR) license fee of $275 is a one-time annual charge to ProSeries customers who are only preparing returns on a pay-per-return basis. If you have licensed an unlimited Federal ProSeries program, you will not be charged this one-time fee to prepare returns via PPR.
How do I add funds to my PPR account?
There are multiple ways for you to add funds with no deposit minimum: (1) using functionality within your ProSeries program; (2) adding funds online through MyProSeries; or (3) calling our automated customer service line at 1-800-723-0692. You may also add $100 or more to your account by speaking directly with a ProSeries customer service representative. Please note, PPR account balances are not refundable, are not transferable, and may not be carried forward to another tax year.
What is deferred billing? How is my credit card pre-authorized?
If you license or renew ProSeries tax software prior to December 3, 2009, we will not bill your credit card until that date. However, at the time of your order—and one week prior to the software shipping—an authorization will be processed on your account causing a temporary hold for the total amount due as required by your card issuer. For credit cards, the hold will be approximately 7 days for Visa and 30 days for MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. For debit cards, the hold will be approximately 3 days. Your credit/debit card will be charged on approximately December 3, 2009.
Why would I choose ProSeries Professional Edition over ProSeries Basic Edition?
Primarily, it comes down to your level of tax experience and the types of clients you have. The navigation and data entry in Professional Edition is tailored more to professionals who are familiar with preparing returns and require high efficiency. How do I obtain an IRS-issued Electronic Filing Identification Number (EFIN)?
